Episode 211: Shira Scheindlin

In her 22 years as a federal judge, she became best known to civilians like me for striking down New York City’s stop-and-frisk policy. And now she can be known for this: she was gym-mates with Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Great legal minds on the treadmill. Not a figure of speech.

  1. “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”
Spoken not by Cade but Dick, the butcher, who is a reprobate. Shakespeare did not have contempt for lawyers so much as anyone outside of the aristocracy. The Cade rebellion is not treated kindly in Henry VI and is often cut from productions.
